Choose a detail they would choose themselves.
Start with what the recipient actually calls themselves: Mom or Mama, Grandma or Nana, a nickname or a full name. Check how they write it instead of choosing the version that fits your own habit. For an established year or anniversary, verify what the date represents before entering it.
Read the design’s personalization fields before planning changes. Some ask for a name, some offer a menu, and some need photographs. An optional text field does not mean every part of the artwork can be redesigned. Ask about a change that the listing does not offer before purchasing.
Proofread as if it is already printed.
Read names slowly, one character at a time. Check punctuation, capitalization and the order of several names. Paste only the final wording into the requested field; keep explanations in an instructions field where one is provided. Respect the listed character and photo limits.
If you are buying for several people, create one small list that keeps each name with the right garment, color and size. Complete different personalizations as separate items. A quantity of three is appropriate for three identical items, not three different names entered for one shirt.
